Down the Hatch Seafood Restaurant

Tucked right on the water in Ponce Inlet, Down the Hatch is the kind of place you go for dinner and end up staying for the view. The restaurant sits directly on the Intracoastal, with a deck that puts you right over the water — boats coming and going, pelicans working the dock, and a sunset that does most of the atmosphere for you.

The seafood here is about as fresh as it gets, since a lot of it comes straight off boats working the same inlet you’re looking at. Grouper, shrimp, and oysters are the reliable order, though it’s worth asking what came in that day. It’s casual enough for a quick bite after a beach day and good enough to make it the main event of the evening.

Go for an early dinner if you want the best light for photos, or later if you don’t mind waiting a bit for a table — it’s a popular spot, especially on weekends. Either way, it’s a solid pick if you want a proper seafood dinner without leaving the coast, just a short drive south of the main Daytona strip.
